This page provides key information about Mother and Child Welfare Organisation (MACWO), how we are governed, and the standards and commitments that guide our work.
1. Organisation name and status
Mother and Child Welfare Organisation (MACWO) is a UK registered charity working with families, children, young people and vulnerable communities.
Mother and Child Welfare Organisation (MACWO)
Registered charity number: 1156832
Registered address: 202 Uxbridge Road, London W12 7JP, United Kingdom
2. Our mission
MACWO exists to support families, children and vulnerable communities through practical, community-based services. Our work includes mentoring, education, youth activities, parenting support, health and wellbeing programmes, and wider welfare initiatives that help people to build safer, more hopeful futures.
We aim to:
- empower mothers, parents and carers to navigate difficult circumstances;
- support children and young people to stay engaged in education and positive activities;
- reduce isolation, inequality and disadvantage in our communities; and
- work in partnership with local services, schools and community groups.
3. Governance
MACWO is governed by a Board of Trustees who oversee the strategic direction of the charity, ensure that we meet our legal and regulatory obligations, and safeguard our charitable purpose.
Day-to-day operations are carried out by staff and volunteers, under the oversight of the trustees. Trustees give their time and expertise to guide the charity, approve policies, and monitor finance, risk and impact.
4. Ethical standards
We are committed to working in a way that reflects our values and respects the dignity and rights of everyone we support. This includes a commitment to:
- Safeguarding – protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm, and acting promptly where concerns arise.
- Equality and inclusion – treating everyone fairly and with respect, and actively challenging discrimination and prejudice.
- Transparency – being open and honest about our work, our funding and our decision-making.
- Responsible fundraising – ensuring that our fundraising activities are legal, open, honest and respectful.
- Accountability – using our resources responsibly and for the benefit of the communities we serve, and being accountable to our beneficiaries, supporters and regulators.
5. Complaints procedure
We aim to provide high standards in all of our work. However, we recognise that sometimes things may go wrong or fall short of expectations. If you have a concern or complaint about any aspect of MACWO's work, we encourage you to let us know so that we can take it seriously and learn from it.
You can raise a complaint by contacting us via email at info@macwo.org and marking your message as a complaint. Please include:
- your name and contact details;

- who was involved, if known; and
- what you would like us to do to resolve the issue.
We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it fairly, and respond within a reasonable time. In some cases (for example safeguarding concerns) we may also need to share information with appropriate agencies, in line with our legal obligations.

Protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of MACWO. We have safeguarding policies and procedures in place, and we provide training and guidance for staff and volunteers who work with or come into contact with children and adults at risk.
Where we have concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable adult, we may need to share information with appropriate agencies such as social services, the police or health professionals, in line with our legal duties. We will balance the need to protect individuals with respect for privacy and confidentiality.
